Expressing his grief and immense sorrow over the demise of “Mujahid Awal” of Kashmir’s freedom movement and former President and Prime minister of “Azad Jammu and Kashmir”, Sardar Abdul Qayoom Khan, Hurriyat (m) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that the contribution and commitment of the deceased towards resistance movement was matchless and exemplary.

Mirwaiz stated that deceased worked closely with Mahajr-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Yousf Shah to guide the Kashmir’s freedom movement. Since the foundation of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz said Khan till his death advised us with his valuable suggestions and would often provide guidance at crucial junctures.

Mirwaiz said, Khan raised Kashmir dispute on local and international forums like OIC, UN and at other stages adding, his contributions would be written in golden words in the history of freedom struggle of Jammu and Kashmir.

Extending his sympathy and solidarity with the family of deceased Mirwaiz said that the loss of deceased was irreparable. Later, Mirwaiz led prayers in-absentia (Gaibana Nimaz-e-Janaza), at Jamia Masjid, for the deceased which was attended by the thousands of people.
