Firearm-borne youth believed to be a suspected militant Tuesday shot a sarpanch of South Kashmir’s Shopian at general bus stand, leaving him critically wounded.
The Sarpanch identified as Mohammad Yaqoob Malla, was elected village head of village Pahalpora.
After getting shot, he was referred to Srinagar for treatment.
Malla, a National Conference Sarpanch, was earlier attacked by militants some years ago in which his brother was injured.
