Scattered Showers, Thunder Likely in JK from May 27

   

SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast a change in weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with scattered rain and thunderstorms likely in several areas.

According to Director MeT Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, hot and dry weather will prevail on May 25 and 26, though light rain may occur at isolated locations, especially during late afternoon hours.

From May 27 to 31, the department has predicted scattered to widespread light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers in many parts of the region. Intense showers and gusty winds are also expected at some places during this period.

A brief spell of rain or thundershowers is also likely at isolated locations on June 1 and 2.

The MeT department stated that heatwave conditions are expected to ease, with maximum temperatures likely to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius at several places till May 31. It also issued an advisory urging the public and local authorities to remain alert due to possible thunderstorms and gusty winds during May 27 to 31.
