SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in several areas of Srinagar and Budgam districts on May 31 and June 1, 2025, to facilitate pole erection, preventive maintenance, and line stabilisation works.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the 33 kV Budgam SIDCO Tap line will be shut down on 31 May from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM to enable erection of 13-metre-long ST poles for the 2×1.6 MVA substation of ESIC Hospital opposite NIFT Ompora. As a result, the 33/11 kV Receiving Stations at SIDCO and Railway Station Budgam will remain off, affecting power supply to Ompora, SIDCO, NIFT, Housing Colony, and adjoining areas.
Additionally, in a separate shutdown schedule issued by the Chief Engineer’s office, multiple 33 kV lines will be shut down on 01 June 2025, from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM for preventive maintenance, line stabilisation, and tree branch cutting along corridors.
The affected areas and associated shutdowns are as follows:
Bemina KP Bagh line: Power supply to Rakhi Arth, Hamdania Colony, Sabdan, and adjoining areas will be disrupted as the 33/11 kV Receiving Station at Rakhi Arth remains off.
Bemina Exhibition line: Receiving stations at GIS Batamaloo, Tengpora, and Court Complex will be shut, affecting power to Court Complex, Batamaloo, Bus Adda, Moominabad, Gund Rashi Colony B, Bemina, and surrounding localities.
Bemina-I and Bemina-II lines: Receiving Stations Bemina-I and II will remain off, affecting Hamdania Colony, HIG/MIG Colony, Nundresh Colony, Hamza Colony, Sir Syed Abad, Qamarwari, Chatabal, SK Colony, Tauheedabad, Bemina, Mandi, and other areas.
Bemina JVC line: Receiving Stations at JVC, PC Depot, SKIMS, and Children’s Hospital will be affected, disrupting power to JVC Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Hajj House, State Motor Garage, Forensic Lab, Qamarwari, Baranpather, and adjoining areas.
Bemina-Karan Nagar line: Shutdown will affect the Karan Nagar and Shalistore receiving stations, cutting supply to Chatabal, Balgarden, Zaldagar, Police Lines, Civil Secretariat, SMHS Hospital, Gole Market, Guru Bazar, Tankipora, Shaheed Gunj, and nearby areas.
Bemina-Barbarshah and Bemina-Fatehkadal lines: Receiving stations at Fateh Kadal, Khayam, Barbarshah, and Basant Bagh will be shut, disrupting power in those areas and surroundings.
