SRINAGAR: The Government has extended the temporary closure of schools till April 30. It has been done to prevent the Covid-19 infection.

“All schools in the UT of J&K shall continue to remain closed for imparting on-campus / in- person education to the students of all classes (i.e., up to and including Class 12), till 30.04.2021,” an order (GO 19 of 2021) signed by Simrandeep Singh, member Secretary State executive Committee, reads.“It is further ordered that all Coaching and tuition centres imparting in-person teaching to Students shall remain closed in the entire J&K till 30.04.2021.”

The government took the decision following a review of the current pandemic situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir reported 142877 Covid-19 positive cases of whom 10040 are currently active, 130791 have recovered and 2046 have died. The dead included 758 in Jammu and 1288 in Kashmir.
