Several protesters have sustained injuries during clashes near the encounter site of a gunfight in Bahmnoo village of Pulwama district on Monday.
Clashes erupted after people took to streets in Bahmnoo and adjacent villages to help the trapped militants escape.
Forces resorted to firing and pellet and tear smoke shelling to break up the protests.
More than a dozen people were injured in the clashes. “The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.”
Two militants have so far been killed in the gunfight which is going on since early morning, police said.
