SRINAGAR

The Gyne ward in Sub District Hospital Tral is defunct from past two months. Every pregnant with labour pain is being referred to Lal Ded Hospital Srinagar. Attendants held a protest in hospital premises and appealed the authorities to look into the matter.

Reports said that doctors present in South Kashmir’s Tral town are showing reluctance in treating women suffering from labour pain because last time protestors had damaged the hospital machinery after the death of a pregnant woman due to alleged negligence of the doctors.

Dr Parvena Farid told CNS that she is unable to go for surgery and treat pregnant women as the hospital lacks blood bank facility. “The hospital is even lacking Multi Channel Monitor Machine. I can’t play with the lives of patients and thus refer every patient to L.D Hospital Srinagar,” she said.

People alleged that doctors of the hospital prefer private practice and to save their time they refer every case to Srinagar. “We fail to understand how come then doctors who had been transferred now were operating the patients with eloquence,” the protestors said.

Protestors appealed the government to equip the hospital with all facilities including the Blood Bank
