Cautioning people against the constructions of toilets on the banks of River Jehlum, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sopore Hanief Balkhi has said that a stern action would be taken against the people who violate the orders. He offered financial assistance for those who wish to raise the toilets within the premises of their homes.

“These onshore toilets pollute the Jhelum water to great extent which is causing health problems. Therefore we urge all the people living along the banks of river to desist from making the toilets on the banks,” Balkhi told a local news agency, KNS.

“If they are short of money for constructing in house toilets let them approach us, we will help them financially,” he said and also appealed the people to keep their children away from river banks.
