SRINAGAR: Security forces launched massive search operations across multiple areas in Akhnoor on Wednesday, following the deaths of two soldiers in an IED blast on Tuesday.
Officials said that extensive searches are being conducted near the Line of Control (LoC) and other critical areas in the aftermath of the explosion.
The IED blast occurred on Tuesday at around 3:50 PM during a routine fence patrol in the Laleali area of Akhnoor sector, Jammu district. In addition to the two fatalities, another soldier was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The White Knight Corps initiated the search operations to ensure no further threats remain.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, stating, “I salute the supreme sacrifice of our Army bravehearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Their valour and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The entire nation stands firmly with the family of the martyrs in this hour of grief.”
Lt. Gen. M V Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander, Northern Command, also offered condolences and pledged support to the bereaved families. (JKNS)
