SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked two sons of late Ashraf Sehrai under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for “raising anti-national slogans” at their father’s funeral on May 6, 2021, local news gatherer KDA reported. The duo was arrested on May 15, from their Srinagar residence and taken to Kupwara.

Sehrai died on May 5, in GMC Jammu after being driven from Udhanmpur jail in a serious condition. Police said he tested ed id19 posthumously. He was imprisoned under Public Safety Act (PSA). He was laid to rest during the wee hours on May 6 at the family’s ancestral graveyard in Tekkipora (Lolab).

The news agency said an official told them that Sehrai sons – Mujahid and Rashid, were booked under Section 13 in the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, for raising “anti-national slogans” at their father’s funeral. Police had already said they have registered a case against 20 people for raising slogans. The case FIR 21 of 2021 is registered at police station Sogam.
