Deputy of Syed Ali Geelani and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Secretary General, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, is not keeping well for over ten days now.

Family sources said that Sehrai has been suffering from acute chest infection. “Due to acute chest infection, he is unable to move out of his home,” a family member of Sehrai said, “he has been suffering from nose bleeding and continuous cough.”

Sehrai, in his late seventies, is old Islamist face of J&K. A former member of Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI), Sehrai joined Geelani in 2004 and formed Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. His JeI membership remains suspended.

A doctor who is attending Sehrai for many days now said, “he has become weak. The cold temperatures had affected his health conditions a bit more, however, he has recovered a lot now.”

The doctors have advised him rest for some more days. “He has been advised to stay away from dust which is one of the causes for his chest infection.”

Following his acute health problems, Sehrai has been staying back home for over ten days now, sources said.

Notably, Geelani is in New Delhi these days for his health issues. If temperatures increase in Kashmir, he is expected to return coming week.
