NC lawmakers had a symbolic protest outside the main gate of the secretariat-assembly premises. They were registering their concern over the frequency with which the people are being killed in Kashmir.

“There is an obituary reference slated for today’s business in the state assembly,” Ali Muhammad Sagar told reporters. “We will insist that while paying tributes to the members who are no more, we should also include the young boys who were killed in last few months.”

Another NC lawmaker said the sense of security has evaporated. “Boys go to the school and return dead, we would seek answers for that,” Abdul Majid Larmi said. “We cannot ignore what is happening around especially since 2016 summer when the young boys are being killed like ants.”

NC lawmakers were carrying placards condemning the killings and seeking respect for human right. They temporarily blocked the passage of some ministers into the secretariat.
