Dozens of residents were injured in Turkwangam village of Shopian district in southern part of Kashmir after army allegedly beat more than 30 families in the village. The village is 12 kilometres away from district headquarters.

The injured have been admitted to different hospitals.

Locals told Kashmir Life that at around 12 am during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, army and SOG men barged into their houses and beat up inmates ruthlessly. “Forces even dragged women from their beds, thrashed and harassed them.”

This is the second incident in the village after forces personnel recently went berserk in the village after the village erupted in celebrations when Pakistan beat England in the Semi Finals of Champions Trophy.

“Several people have suffered fractures in legs and arms in forces action,” the locals claimed.
