The family members of separatist activists lodged in Baramulla jail Monday alleged that “notorious criminal” elements assaulted them, saying they are facing “life threat”.

According to family members of the inmates, the notorious criminals attacked them inside the Baramulla district jail. “They were assaulted by these goons and were threatened by them,” the family members said.

“Qayoom Tantray, a renegade and Bashir Lone (who was involved in Machil fake encounter) along with criminals lodged under NDPS Act attacked the separatist inmates inside the jail,” the family members told GNS.

Quoting inmates, they said that the separatist activists lodged in the Jail are facing constant life threat from these notorious elements. “These criminals should be immediately shifted from Baramulla jail,” the inmates demanded.

A senior police officer when contacted said that he will look into the matter and necessary action will be taken if reports were true.
