SRINAGAR: Anantnag Police have seized multiple vehicles involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of mineral materials across the district.
Acting on specific inputs, a police team in the Larnoo area intercepted and impounded two tractors found transporting mining material without valid royalty receipts or required documentation. In a separate operation at Bringi Nala in Gadvail, police seized a JCB machine and another tractor engaged in illegal mineral extraction.
Officials said that strict legal action has been initiated against the violators, with relevant provisions of law invoked to curb the practice. The action is part of an ongoing enforcement drive aimed at protecting natural resources and ensuring adherence to government regulations governing mining and mineral transportation.
Police reiterated their commitment to continuing such drives across the district and urged the public to refrain from engaging in illegal mining or transportation activities. The public has also been asked to cooperate with authorities in safeguarding the environment and public assets. (KNT)
