The State’s forest corporation officials Saturday threatened to boycott timber and firewood extraction if the government did not fulfil their demands within a time-frame.

President State Forest Corporation Munishi Iqbal told KNS that the body had called for one-day strike against the government but later decided to launch it indefinitely till the government gives a time-frame to resolve their long-pending demands.

He said the demands include pay anomaly, two and half day’s extra salary and risk allowance, enhancing of 135 posts of Range Officers Grade-ii, DPC of all cadres including Class-IV employees, pending SRO-43 cases, ex-gratia relief, regularisation of leftovers, daily wagers, consolidated and casual labours.

Iqbal said that the association is heading to Pahalgam on Sunday, where Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is carrying out a plantation drive, to present a memorandum of their demands for resolving them.
