The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairperson Shabir Ahmad Shah Monday was not allowed to participate in the funeral prayers of his aunt who passed away Monday morning, a spokesperson of his party said.

He said that Shah, who continues to be lodged in police station Rajbagh, Srinagar, since February 24, was not allowed to participate in the funeral prayers of his aunt.

“DFP general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari led a delegation comprising Molvi Bashir Ahmad and others visited the bereaved family at Kadipora, Islamabad of south Kashmir,” said the spokesman.

“Such attitude on the first day of the so-called new government in the State makes it clear that in reality, J&K is ruled by a clerk in Indian prime minister’s office who follows the dictates from Nagpur,” he

Terming the situation as “unfortunate”, the spokesman said such attitude nullifies the claims that people in Jammu and Kashmir enjoy their religious rights.

Meanwhile, chairperson Hurriyat (g) Syed Ali Geelani and its senior leader Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai have condemned the death of the Aunt of Shabir Ahmad Shah.
