Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairperson Shabir Ahmad Shah has paid glowing tributes to former Pakistan administered Kashmir President and PM late Sardar Abdul Qayoom Khan who passed away Friday after a brief illness.

A party statement said, Shabir Ahmad Shah, who is under going house arrest, in his condolence message said, “the contribution of late Sardar Abdul Qayoom Khan to freedom movement of Kashmir is abundant and exemplary who dedicated his whole life for a better and noble cause.”

“To seek the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu Kashmir, Sardar Khan as a Chairman of Kashmir Committee approached every global forum and raised his voice there. He was a pioneer of peace but also took to battlefield in times of need,” Shah in his tributes to former AJK President said.

Meanwhile, chairperson of his own JKLF faction, Javaid Ahmad Mir said that Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan was also a great sympathizer of the Kashmir movement.

Mir expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of the former President and Prime Minister of AJK Sardar Mohammad Abdul Qayyum Khan who passed for heavenly abode this morning.

“Recalling his dozens of meetings with Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan,” a statement quoting Mir said, “the former played a vital role to address the Kashmir dispute on various international forums.”

He said besides being a great diplomat and a great politician of all times, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan was also a great sympathizer of the Kashmir movement, who “had a dream of a Free Kashmir”.

“Sardar Abdul Qayyum throughout his whole life supported the Kashmir Freedom Fighters via politically, morally and diplomatically.”
