Days after government hinted of scraping PSA on Separatist leaders, authorities on Wednesday released Shabir Ahmad Shah from Kotbalwal Jail after he was granted bail. Shah was however re arrested immediately after the release and taken to Meeranshah JIC where from he is likely to be released tomorrow. Sources told KNS that authorities were considering lifting of restriction on Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani also on Saturday.

“Restrictions on Geelani would most probably be lifted on Saturday.”

Reliable sources in the establishment told KNS on Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile some other separatist leaders including Pir Saifullah and others are also likely to be released in coming days. PSA on Saifullah was revoked on Wednesday.

Pertinently Director General Police Ashok Prasad last week had told KNS that after the improvement in the situation, authorities have decided to release the separatists and the process had already began with the release of Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq followed by the release of Hurriyat (G) Spokesman Ayaz Akbar and Tehreek e Hurriyat General Secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai.
