State Human Rights commission has issued notices to the state government asking it to submit details regarding the alleged supply of superiors and expired drugs in G.B Pant hospital which resulted various deaths of infants in the hospital.

“In the first instance notices along with copy of the petition be forwarded to Commissioner Secretary Health, Director Health Jammu and Kashmir provinces, Drug Controller J&K and especially to medical superintendent G.B Pant Hospital Srinagar for submitting their detailed factual reports,” reads SHRC notice Vide No. 48/2013 that has been shot to the above mentioned departments on Wednesday. The human rights body has listed the case for hearing before 25th of the current month.

According to KNS, SHRC has issued notices in response to the petition filed by JK Peoples Forum Raj Bagh General Secretary M.M Shuja. The Forum in its petition has said that there is a lack of effective control regarding the analysis of drugs in the state thereby supply of these superiors, substandard and expired drugs especially through Government agencies/hospital exposes the lives of the patients that too of infants to extreme which violates human rights of the citizens of state.

The complaint a copy of which lies with KNS further states that after the birth the infants are exposed to such a substandard and life risking Medicare which is a concern for the society.
