The body guard of United Jihad Council Chief who died in a grenade blast in Batamaloo Srinagar on Wednesday was a trained militant who had crossed the Line of Control some 13 years ago. Police sources told CNS that Shakil Ahmed Kasana during his presence in Pak administered Kashmir acted as the close aide and body guard of UJC Chief Syed Salahudin.

A top police official said that Kasana returned to this part of Kashmir in 2003 and he was having close affiliation with dreaded Hizb militants like Mushtaq Killer aka Jangi and Ghulam Nabi War.

“He was the right hand of HM militant Mushtaq Killer who was gunned down by 5 RR personnel and SOG in a joint operation at Gutli Bagh Ganderbal while his another close associate Ghulam Nabi War was killed in an encounter with 24 RR at Hayen Palapora area of Kangan,” he said.

Shakil Ahmed Kasana, a bachelor, was arrested by Panta Chowk police in December 2012 vide FIR number 113/2012, 7/25 Arms Act. “He was a dreaded militant who was wanted to police in different arson, murder and blast cases,” a police official said.
