SRINAGAR: Sanjid Ali Khan, 68, resident of Malerkotla, Punjab died of cancer. He was the maternal uncle of journalist, Shams Irfan, who is currently working for The Washington Post.

Khan served Punjab police as an inspector. After he was detected with stomach cancer, post-retirement, he fought it for three years valiantly. Finally, he lost the battle on July 22, 2021.

Khan is survived by two sons and wife. His elder son is a lawyer and his younger one is a businessman.

Shams and his family joined his funeral prayers. Khan was laid to rest late on Thursday.
