Sheikh Amanullah, the eldest son of Sheikh Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Lal Bazaar, Srinagar passed away Tuesday morning.

A retired employee of irrigation department, Sheikh Amanullah was battling for his life from last few months.

Known in his area for helping the downtrodden with whatever capacity, Sheikh’s only purpose was to go for Hajj, the annual holy pilgrimage to the cities of Makkah and Medina. He has been to the holy cities ten times, eight times for Hajj & twice for Umrah.

Running a chemist shop outside his residence, Sheikh lived alone in his one storey house at Lal Bazar. He had divorced his wife just a few days after his marriage and does not have any children.

Deceased was a brother to Sheikh Nisar and Sheikh Manzoor.

Originally hailing from Kralyar Rainawari, Sheikhs later shifted to Lal Bazaar where Amanullah and his siblings live in adjacent houses.

According to family members, the Nimaz-e-Jinaza of Sheikh Amanullah would be offered at around 11:30 AM.
