A complete shutdown is being observed on Sunday for a seventh consecutive day in South Kashmir’s Shopian district against the killings of four civilians and two militants by the army in a brief shootout with militants at Pahnoo village on last Sunday evening.

Local sources said that shops and business establishments opened for a while in the morning however they were again closed after the announcement was made in a local mosque that triggered a shutdown in the whole area.

The locals of Pahnoo, Pinjoora and it’s adjacent areas have been demanding the removal of 44 RR army garrison camp at Pahnoo Shopian established in 2016, who according to locals are involved in the killing.

Pertinently four civilians namely Suhail Ahmad Wagay son Khalid Ahmad Wagay of Pinjoora, Shahid Khan son of Bashir Ahmad Khan of Malik Gund, Shahnawaz Wagay son of Ali Mohammad of Langandora Trench, and Gowhar Ahmad Lone of Molu Chitragam and two militants namely Aamir Ahmad Malik of Harmain and Ashiq Ahmed of Rakh-e-Kapran were killed in army action at Pahnoo village of Shopian on last  Sunday evening.
