At least 50 civilians were injured during the clashes between the government forces and protesters at two gunfight sites, Kachdoora and Draged-Sugan in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.

Reports said that 50 civilians were injured and twenty of them were referred to Srinagar hospitals for advanced treatment.

Authorities from Shopian hospital said that due to the heavy rush of the injured they are unable to maintain the record.

Seven militants were killed in a gunfight with forces at Draged, Sugan area of Shopian while as another gunfight was going on in Kachdora area.

In both the encounter sites, massive clashes erupted between the locals and the government forces.

Hundreds of protesters at both the places pelted rocks on forces to disrupt their anti-militant operations.

The forces used tear gas shells, pellets and bullets to disperse the protesters, reports claimed.
