Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted near gunfight sites in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday where two gunfights between militants and forces are underway.

Sources said hundreds of protesters assembled and pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shelling and pellet firing at both Kachdora and Draged in which dozens of youth were injured.

The injured youth were shifted to local health centers for treatment where from four youth having injuries in eyes were shifted to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.

Earlier police said that seven militant has been killed in the gunfight at Dragad so far. Three army men have been wounded as well.

Train and Internet services were suspended in both the Shopian and Islamabad districts following the killing of two militants in Islamabad and Shopian districts of south Kashmir.

Earlier, a militant Rouf Bashir Khanday was killed and his associate Imran Rashid was arrested alive after a gunfight at Brunty Dialgam.
