An army man was killed in a gunfight at Batagund village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.

An official said that an Army man identified as Nazir Ahmad of 162 Territorial Army a resident of Ashmuji Kulgam, who was currently with 34 RR, was killed in the gunfight with militants in the village.

While confirming the news Army’s Srinagar based spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said: “OpHipuraBatagund (#Shopian). Two more #terrorists killed. Total Six terrorists killed. Weapons and warlike stores recovered. One soldier also martyred. Operation over.”

Earlier six militants have been killed in the gunfight. The identity of the slain militants was not immediately known.
