SRINAGAR: Four militants killed in a gunfight with the counter-insurgent forces in Manihal area of Imamsahib in south Kashmir’s Shopian district were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba, an official said.

An official identified the slain militants as Aqib Manzoor a resident of Arshipora, Rayees Ahmad Bhat a resident of DK Pora Shopian, Aftaab Ahmad a resident of Dashipora and Amir Shafi a resident of Manihal Batpora in Shopian, all affiliated with proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba.

He said that Amir Shafi was missing since February 13,202, Rayees Ahmad Bhat was missing since October 13, 2020,  Aqib Malik was missing since December 25, 2020, and Altaf Ahmad was missing since November 24, 2020.

He added that arms and ammunition including one Ak-47 and two pistols were recovered from the site of encounter.

“All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes,” he said.

Earlier, the army had said that four militants were killed and an army man was injured in the encounter.
