Authorities on Friday suspended the train services from Srinagar to Banihal in wake of an encounter in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

“We have suspended train services in South Kashmir for security reasons,” a railway official said.

However, trains continued to chug on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir as per schedule, he said.

Earlier, two militants were killed and a forces personnel was injured during an ongoing gunfight in Adkhara village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Meanwhile, the internet has been suspended in south Kashmir for law and order situation.
