The third youth killed in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday was a walnut merchant who had gone to Shopian to buy walnuts from one of the merchants residing there.

Tariq Ahmed Mir son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Okey Kulgam according to his father was innocent who was killed by CRPF personnel without any reason. He was just 27. The slain youth is survived by his old parents, wife and two months old baby.

“My son was innocent who was married to a local girl a year ago. Two months ago he had become the father of baby girl. Now who would take care of his baby. I fail to understand why CRPF personnel killed my son,” the father of slain youth, Ghulam Nabi told CNS.

He said that on the fateful day, Tariq after taking tea had left for Shopian. “I told him to visit Shopian some other day but he refused and left for good,” said his father.

“This is the second son I have lost to bullets. Tariq was innocent but my elder son, Aijaz Ahmed Mir was a militant who lost his life in Khandeypora, Kulgam encounter in 2007. Now Tariq was the sole bread earner and simply we have finished,” Ghulam Nabi said.
