J&K police on Monday evening said that a militant was killed during “scuffle” in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
DGP J&K, Dr SP Vaid, in a tweet said, “3 militants killed an ex-sarpanch in Shopian. In scuffle, one militant was killed.”
The DGP, however, did not explain further.
The slain militant was identified as Showkat Ahmad Kumar son of Abdul Ahad Kumar, resident of Trenz Shopian.
Before the incident happened, an ex-sarpanch, who was party worker of ruling PDP, was shot dead by the suspected militants.
Police are blaming the incident on the 3 militants.
