SRINAGAR: The Jammu Kashmir Police in Shopian conducted a large-scale inspection of SIM card vendors across the district in a bid to tighten controls and prevent the misuse of mobile networks.
An official said that the drive, carried out in Keller, Shopian, Zainapora, Imamsahib, and other areas, was aimed at verifying vendors’ credibility and ensuring they possessed all essential documents required for issuing SIM cards.
The officer emphasised the significance of such verification processes, noting their role in maintaining strict vigilance over vendors to prevent the misuse of SIM cards for illegal or anti-national activities. The inspections also assessed compliance with regulations mandating proper identity verification and documentation during SIM card issuance.
The police highlighted that these measures are crucial for safeguarding public security and maintaining law and order. Vendors have been instructed to adhere strictly to documentation requirements and maintain accurate records. The official confirmed that similar inspections will continue in the future to ensure ongoing compliance and authenticity among SIM card vendors in the district.
