A complete shutdown was observed in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the random arrest of youth in the district. Police have arrested at least nine youth during nocturnal raids including two brothers. Police sources told a local news agency, CNS that all the arrested youth were involved in stone-pelting.

Reports said that people in Pulwama district observed a complete shutdown against the random arrests of youth. Shops, educational institutions and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off from the road.

People alleged that police randomly raided the houses during the dead of night and arrested various youth.

Confirming the arrest of 9 youth, a police official told CNS that all these youth were involved in stone-pelting. These youth are responsible for the injuries of some of our senior officers including Dy SO Mohammad Shafi.

The arrested youth, according to police sources have been identified as Amir Hansan Ganaie, Amir Bashir residents of Muran Pulwama, Feroz Ahmed Kumar, Mudasir Wali residents of Bonar, Abid Bashir Sofi (Badarpora) Rayees Bashir (Dalipora) Shabir Reyaz Wani (Damhal Hanjipora) Irfan Bashir Shiekh and Adil Bashir Shiekh residents of Wanpora Pulwama.
