According to an official statement, the case pertains to the publication of anti-national, secessionist, and pro-terrorist content on social media.

“The case was registered following information that a Twitter handle, Lacerated Kashmir, was posting content of a secessionist and anti-India nature, promoting terrorism in JK. Consequently, a formal case was registered under FIR No. 18 of 2022 at Police Station CIK/SIA Kashmir,” the statement reads.

Following an extensive technical investigation, the SIA identified the Twitter handler as Irfan-Ul-Haq, a resident of Kawoosa Khalisa in Budgam district. “The accused had created multiple Twitter accounts under pseudonyms to evade law enforcement agencies. The investigation confirmed that Twitter handles such as Lacerated Kashmir, The Resistance Kashmir, Maimed Kashmir, and Wounded Kashmir were being operated by the accused to propagate secessionist ideology, promote terrorism, and undermine the lawful administrative regime. Additionally, he had shown disrespect to the Indian National Flag through his Twitter posts,” the statement added.

On March 7, SIA Kashmir filed a comprehensive charge sheet against the accused under Section 153-A of the IPC, Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act for judicial determination.
