SRINAGAR: In a major counterinsurgency operation, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Thursday conducted simultaneous search operations at three suspected locations in Jammu, Doda, and Handwara, targeting a sophisticated financing network allegedly using cryptocurrency to fund cross-border militancy and radicalisation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The coordinated raids were conducted as part of the ongoing investigation under FIR No. 12/2022, registered at Police Station CI-SIA Kashmir under stringent sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Indian Penal Code, including charges of waging war against the state and criminal conspiracy.

According to officials, the meticulously planned operations aimed to gather crucial evidence to expose a complex conspiracy involving cryptocurrency-based funding from across the border, allegedly intended to destabilise peace in Jammu and Kashmir and incite youth against the Indian state.

Electronic devices and other incriminating material were seized during the searches, which are now expected to aid in identifying the wider network of co-conspirators and radical elements involved in the financing and promotion of terrorism.

The SIA, in a statement, reiterated its firm resolve to dismantle terror infrastructure and neutralise emerging threats, including the growing misuse of digital financial tools like cryptocurrency, which are increasingly being exploited by terror outfits.
