Following the killing of a Sikh youth, Jagjit Singh, the state government Friday afternoon shifted Senior Superintendent Jammu with immediate effect.
Sources disclosed that to ensure maintenance of law and order, the authorities were ‘forced’ to transfer SSP Jammu.
“SSP Uttam Chand has been transferred and Vivek Gupta is the new SSP Jammu,” the sources said.
The sources added that Ashkoor Wani has been posted as DIG Jammu.
Meanwhile, Divisional Administration Jammu has extended the closure of all schools and colleges to Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts.
