SRINAGAR: Nearly half a dozen members of a family from a remote village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir were hospitalised on Thursday after developing symptoms of gastroenteritis and diarrhoea, suspected to have been caused by food poisoning.
Officials said that the family members fell ill after allegedly consuming a wild vegetable. All the affected persons were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition is being monitored.
An initial probe points to consumption of the wild vegetable as the likely cause of the illness.
Medical teams have been sent to the village and further investigation is underway.
More details are awaited.(GNS)
