SRINAGAR: Police in Srinagar have seized substantial quantities of banned narcotics and arrested six individuals in a series of coordinated operations targeting drug trafficking across the city. Multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police Station Shalteng seized 36.770 kg of Ganja from a residence in Dilawar Colony, Mujgund, arresting Jehangir Ahmad Dar and Mohd Rafiq Dar, sons of Late Abdul Rehman Dar, under FIR No. 75/2025. An additional 11.500 kg of Ganja was recovered from the attic of a cowshed at the residence of Mohd Altaf Dar, also under the same FIR, with the accused apprehended on the spot.
In a separate operation, Police Station Panthachowk seized a significant quantity of Clonazepam, a banned psychotropic drug, from Maqsood Ahmad Mir of Balhama, registering FIR No. 78/2025. Meanwhile, Police Station Nowgam recovered 16 kg of Charas concealed in three rice bags from Khazir Mohammad Sheikh of Ganie Mohalla, Wagoora (FIR No. 155/2025). Another 15 kg of Charas powder was seized from a blue plastic drum belonging to Mehraj-ud-din Ganie of the same area under FIR No. 156/2025.
All six accused have been arrested, and investigations are ongoing to uncover further networks involved in the trafficking.
The JK Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
