SDRF team rescued six labourers from the debris of a collapsed house in Srinagar. ADGP Armed/ Home Guard and civil Defence Sh. S M Sahai announced cash reward for the team for saving precious human lives by their prompt action.

Today at about 11:40 am, SDRF team lunched a rescue operation soon after information regarding a house collapse reached them. The house belonging to Irfan Ahmad Kawoosa at Hyderpora, Srinagar was being renovated had collapsed. The house was jacked upon the studs through some machinery. While carrying out this process the house collapsed fully and the labourers working in the house got trapped under the debris.

The SDRF team comprising of 45  personnel headed by SP Mehraj Shah Commandant SDRF 1st BN assisted by  M.A. Dar, Dy Director, Fire & Emergency services along with  rescue vehicles and all the rescue equipment  rushed to spot  and started  a joint rescue operation.  After putting in their strenuous efforts and pressing into service all available rescue equipment the SDRF team, rescued and retrieved the six labourers safely who were trapped  under the collapsed house. All these injured persons were immediately rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

The rescued labourers were identified as  Jibreel son of  Mohammad Qasim Mohammad Sadda Gul son of Mohammad Asim,    Mohd Sabeel son of Mohd Wahid,   Mohammad Muslim son of Mohd Mahid-Ul,   Mohammad Ashraf  son of Riyaz Ahmad,   Rayees Sheikh son Mohammad Ibrahim residents of Bihar.

SM Sahai, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police, Home guards / Civil Defence and SDRF, J&K, who was constantly monitoring the rescue operation, appreciated the exemplary performance exhibited by SDRF personnel while saving the precious lives of labourers and suitably rewarded the SDRF personnel who conducted the rescue operation.
