SKIMS Surgeons awarded fellowship from American College of Surgeons

Senior and prominent  surgeons of Department of General and Minimal Access Surgery SKIMS have been conferred with prestigious fellowship from the American College of Surgeons (FACS)  among 1622 surgeons from around the world.

The surgeons include Prof Nisar A Chowdri, Prof Ajaz Ahmad Malik, Prof Fazal Q Parray and Dr Rauf Wani.

According to sources Head and Chairman Surgery Prof Khursheed Alam, Prof Ajaz Ahmad Malik and Dr Rauf Wani recently attended the convocation and Clinical Congress in Washington USA and  Prof Ajaz Ahmad Malik and Dr Rauf Ahmad Wani presented two research papers on  Laparoscopy and Small intestinal obstruction in  J&K.

They added that in the congress there was exchange of ideas in patient management between world stalwarts of surgery and SKIMS faculty.

The surgeons from SKIMS also got an opportunity to highlight their research work in world’s top surgical forum and to watch latest developments in surgical field like navigational surgical approaches and robotics.

The surgeons from US agreed for exchange programmes pertaining to surgical knowledge and research in future.

Also Prof Ajaz Ahmad Malik, one of the senior surgeons of the Institute, has been recently elected as member in topmost academic forum of the country, the National Academy of Medical Sciences in recognition of his significant contribution for the advancement of Medical Sciences.

Director and ex officio secretary to Government Prof Shaukat Ali Zargar has hailed and congratulated the faculty on achieving this milestone in the top world surgical fora and expected similar laurels in future as well.
