SKIMS Won The Best Research Paper Awards

Department of general surgery, SKIMS won first three prizes for best research papers in 3rd annual conference of JK chapter of Association of Surgeons of India – JAKASICON 2013 hosted by Government Medical College Srinagar.

Director SKIMS congratulated the winners and said it is very encouraging both for students and the institute. “Research is the main thrust area of SKIMS where students work under the guidance of faculty on important subjects which are of great importance to patient care system,” Director said.

HOD General Surgery, SKIMS Dr Khurshhed AlamWani congratulated the students for being awarded for their excellent work and said that it is a proud moment for the department as it is a recognition to both student and faculty for  best work.

The research papers presented focused on critical health concerns in Kashmir. The postgraduate students of SKIMS completed their research papers under the guidance of prominent faculty members included Dr HOD Department of General Surgery Dr Khursheed Alam wani, Dr Aijaz Ahmad Malik, Dr Nisar Choudhary Dr Fazal Parrayand Dr Rouf Ahmad Wani.

Those who won the first three prizes include Dr Saima Nanda, first prize winner for research paper comparison of stapled and hand sewn methods of anastomosis in ileocolic surgery: Comparative prospective randomized study. Dr Sheikh Reyaz Ahmad second prize winner for his research paper on Metabolic Syndrome in gall bladder stone disease patients in Kashmir and Dr. Altaf Ahmad Mallik got third prize for his paper Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in patients undergoing colorectal surgery.
