SRINAGAR: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-Kashmir) is recruiting a Project Associate-1/Junior Research Fellow for the project titled “Population Genetics and Genome Sequencing of Critically Endangered Kashmir Red Deer or Hangul (Cervus hanglu hanglu) for its Conservation and Population Recovery,” funded by the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MOEFCC), Government of India.

The project duration is nine months, with the application deadline set for March 26, 2024.

Applicants must hold a Masters (MSc/MVSc) in Wildlife Sciences OR MSc in Zoology/Forestry/Veterinary Science/Biotechnology, along with experience in the wildlife field. Proficiency in computers, molecular work, and spatial analysis of data with GIS is essential.

Responsibilities of the Project Associate include conducting site visits of PAs for field surveys and sample collection, as well as engaging in molecular genetics work at SKUAST-Kashmir and WII, Dehradun.
