SRINAGAR: The Local Meteorological Department Tuesday said that sky in Kashmir is expected to remain clear, thereby increasing chances of crescent sighting for the Shawwal month.

A MeT official said that the sky is expected to remain clear till 9 pm tonight, significantly increasing chances of Shawwal crescent sightings today.

He said that after 9 pm, the sky is expected to be remain cloudy.

If the crescent is sighted today, marking 29 days of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated tomorrow on the first day of Shawwal month.

Notably, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow in Saudi Arabia, Australia, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in these countries last evening. (KNS)
