Clashes erupted in Gabarpora village of Pulwama district on Wednesday after the funeral prayers of a civilian who succumbed at SK Institute of Medical Sciences Soura earlier today.
Local sources said that people, mostly youth, hurled rocks at forces deployed outside the CRPF camp in Haal village to express their anger at the killing of Akeel Ahmad Bhat. The forces responded by lobbing teargas shells.
Bhat, who had sustained a bullet injury after forces opened fire on demonstrators in Hakripora yesterday, succumbed at SKIMS today morning.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Pulwama district to mourn the militant and civilian killings.
Two militants, Abu Dujana and Arif Lelhari, were killed in a gunfight in Hakripora village of the district yesterday.
Two civilians were killed after forces opened fire on demonstrators after the gunfight ended.
