SRINAGAR

Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr G.N.Qasba Sunday said that stern action would be initiated against those SMC officials who provided ‘No Objection Certificates’ (NOC’s) to the owners of the commercial complexes that Corporation has sealed from past many days.

Qasba told CNS that it is a serious matter and there are proper Court orders to identify these officials who are part of the nexus and allowed the people to raise commercial complexes.

He said so far SMC has sealed 37 commercial complexes in Jawahar Nagar, Karan Nagar, Habak and Shalteng. Various other commercial complexes are on our radar and we are going to seal them as well.

“In fact, we have issued show cause notices to the owners of various commercial shopping complexes and those complexes would be sealed as well,” Qasba said.

He denounced these allegations that SMC is selective in the drive. “It is not a pick and choose process. We are following the Court directions and all those commercial complexes would be sealed which have been raised illegally and without seeking our permission,” he said.

Pertinently, National Conference MLA, Pir Afaq on the floor of the House has said that there is a need to expose those officials who provided permission for raising such complexes while PDP member, Javid Mustafa Mir had alleged that SMC is selective and do not seal the shopping complexes of affluent and influential people.
