After an increase in the water level of Toungri nallah in south Kashmir’s Shopian district due to the blockade following a recent snowfall in Kashmir valley, the residents of Herman village in Shopian claimed that the blockade has caused the flood-like situation and traffic jams at several places.

“In Seh-Batpora Herman the localities are impacted and nobody is helping the residents despite being the Tehsil of the district,” said a local resident, adding that normal life in the area is disrupted due to the water-logging causing major inconvenience to commuters.

Pertinently, the downpour and fresh snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir caused the mercury to dip further on Thursday when the Kashmir valley witnessed heavy snowfall. Besides, water-logging the traffic movement was also disrupted.

The residents have appealed the district administration to look into the grave issue, besides this, many residential houses and cowsheds were damaged due to the accumulation of snow on the rooftops of the buildings.
