Train services remained suspended for the third consecutive day on Saturday in the Kashmir valley following shutdown call by Joint Resistance Leadership on the sixth hanging anniversary of Afzal Guru.

An official said a fresh advisory was received from the administration, including police not to resume train service in Kashmir on Saturday also.

All trains will remain off tracks in the Kashmir valley today also, a railway official said.

Therefore, he said, no train will chug on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in the north.

Similarly, all trains will remain suspended on Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir with Banihal in Jammu, he added.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Saturday has called for the shutdown to protest against the hanging of Guru and to demand the return of his mortal remains.
