Incessant snowfall since early morning has resulted in blockage of a canal at Harmain in Shopian district.
Residents of the area said, the blockade in the canal has caused water logging in and around the residential area.
“We have to face immense hardships while authorities are nowhere, neither do they pay any heed to it,” Ghulam Nabi Wani, a local resident whose house is flooded due to water-logging, said.
Despite bringing the issue into the notice of ADC Shopian, he said, “the authorities have not turned up for the help.”
“If the snowfall continues during the night, water will get into our rooms,” Wani said.
Talking to Kashmir Life, DC Shopian said, “It will require machines to drain out the water. But right now, nobody is available for operating them as all the employees are off the work. We will see to it tomorrow morning.”
