In a major development, hundreds of students Friday joined Youth Wing of People’s Democratic Party in Srinagar. It was as such a first huge joining of students into the youth wing after the 2016 unrest in the valley.

Aman Zargar, prominent student youth leader, pursuing B.Tech, who along with hundreds of other students joined the PDP’s youth wing said, “Young people have a proven capability to lead change, and are a vital and valuable investment for now and the future.”

Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar who was present on the occasion stated that the state has lot of opportunities and such things demand revision of youth, coordinated efforts and unity to safeguard their own interests in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He further added that the inclusion of youth into policy and decision making is priority of the party.

PDP General Secretary, Nizamuddin Bhat while speaking on the occasion said, “We will promote the professionalization of youth work by supporting youth work education and training and setting competency standards.”

MLA Ajaz Mir welcomed the students into the party and said that PDP is the only party which never believes on discrimination and also works for the progress of the state.

PDP Youth President Waheed Ur Rehman Para congratulated the students and said, “Government is committed to revive all the activities in the state that became the hallmark of recent unrest and assured to provide talented youth an opportunity to refine and showcase their skills.”

He further added that massive infrastructure is being created across the state and government is making all out efforts to organize more and more events in the state adding that the youth participation will help in channelizing the energy of the youth towards constructive purposes and help in their overall personality development.
