SRINAGAR: A soldier sustained injuries during an ongoing encounter between terrorists and security forces in the Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district, officials said.
As reported earlier, the gunfight began after a joint team of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs. As the forces approached the suspected location, they came under heavy fire from hiding terrorists.
Official said that one soldier was injured in the ongoing operation and is currently undergoing treatment. The encounter is still in progress, with intermittent exchange of fire continuing, as 3–4 terrorists are believed to be holed up in the area.
Further reinforcements have been rushed to the site, and the area remains under a tight cordon. More details are awaited. (JKNS)
